How to Check RAM Information with CPU-Z
A walkthrough of memory identification fields: type, size, channels, timings, and SPD.

CPU-Z typically separates current operating parameters (type, size, frequency, channels, timings in use) from SPD information (what each module reports about itself, slot by slot).
What to record
- RAM type (DDR4, DDR5, LPDDR, etc.)
- Total RAM capacity
- Memory channels (single/dual/quad where applicable)
- Primary timings (CL and related values)
- Per-slot SPD module part numbers and rated speeds
Common gotchas
A kit may be sold as 6000 MT/s but run at a JEDEC default until XMP/EXPO is enabled. CPU-Z helps you see both the SPD-rated profile and the speed currently in effect—pair this with the RAM speed guide for frequency specifics.
